Jogging and Running are the best aerobic exercises for burning calories.

However, take care not everyone is built for running, build up to it. 

Start by walking one mile and timing yourself. Then try picking up the walking pace. Record your times and progress. When your comfortable try alternating 3 minutes of jogging 5 minutes of walking, then 5 minutes of jogging and 3 minutes of walking. Then try jogging the whole mile, remember to reward yourself if you manage to do it without stopping.

Keep trying to beat your previous time and you will progress from jogging to running. Remember not to push so hard that your unable to hold a conversation without gasping for breath.
